Why does my own fart smell fine?

Ever notice how your own farts smell way better than anyone else's? It's not just you - turns out, we all think our farts smell better than other people's. Scientists don't precisely know why this is, but there are a few theories.

One possibility is that we're just used to our own scent, so we don't notice it as much. Another possibility is that our bodies produce different types of gas depending on what we eat, and we tend to eat foods that agree with us (and therefore don't produce smelly gas). Whatever the reason, one thing's for sure: nobody enjoys the smell of someone else's fart.

So the next time you let one rip, rest assured knowing that, to you at least, it smells amazing.
