What's the origin of Santa Claus?
It's hard to believe that myths about a big man in red spreading holiday cheer can trace its origin all the way back to a 4th century Greek bishop!
Though this legendary figure has evolved greatly over the centuries, it is understood that Santa Clause is based on Saint Nicholas, who was known for his generosity and love of children. It's been said he gave out gifts to those who were less fortunate and once saved three sisters from slavery! Today, Santa remains beloved the world over, spreading joy each holiday season with special gifts for those who've been nice. He's certainly come along way since 4th century Greece — and we thank him just the same!
