What makes Special Forces soldiers "special"?
Who doesn’t love a good action movie? The thrill of the chase, the epic fight scenes, and without fail, a hero who seems superhuman. In many ways, heroes in films like these are based on real-life Special Forces soldiers.
When it comes to soldiers, most people think of the same thing: brave men and women who are willing to put their lives on the line for their country. But not all soldiers are created equal. In the military, there is a clear distinction between regular soldiers and Special Forces soldiers.
Years of Intensive Training
Special Forces soldiers have to endure years of intense physical training, including running long distances with heavy backpacks, mastering martial arts techniques and weapons systems, mastering parachuting techniques (for airborne units), learning foreign languages, and much more. This rigorous physical training is designed to push Soldiers to their limits while instilling discipline and focus.
Special Training
At its core, Special Forces training is designed to develop multiple skills in special operations combat environments. This type of training focuses on physical fitness, tactical shooting, hand-to-hand combat, specialized weapons techniques, language proficiency, and much more. This intense training allows Special Forces soldiers to become experts in their field and have the skill set needed to complete challenging missions behind enemy lines.
Regular soldier training involves learning how to work as a cohesive unit while following orders from superiors. While they still receive instruction in weapons techniques and hand-to-hand combat, they don’t receive the intensive specialty training that Special Forces do.
The Ability To Adapt Quickly
Special Forces soldiers are also trained to think quickly on their feet and adapt to any given situation. They have to be able to recognize patterns in their environment and make decisions that best suit their mission objectives in the face of ever-changing conditions or unexpected scenarios.
This requires an ability to think outside the box as well as a willingness to take risks when necessary.
A Dedication To Their Mission
Finally, Special Forces soldiers are known for their commitment to their mission—no matter how dangerous it may be. They will go out of their way to complete missions even if it means putting themselves in harm’s way because they believe in the importance of the mission and its success above all else.
This dedication is what sets them apart from other military personnel and makes them such valuable members of any team or organization they join.
The Missions They Take On
When it comes to assignment selection, regular forces are typically assigned missions that involve more traditional military operations such as patrol duty or peacekeeping operations. However, Special Forces are often sent on clandestine missions with high stakes attached—missions that require special skills such as hostage rescue or sabotage of enemy facilities.
These highly trained operatives often operate behind enemy lines without any direct support from conventional forces—a level of autonomy that regular forces simply don’t have access too.
